1 Corinthians 15:42-44 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; and it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

Patricia was a boarding school survivor; taken away at 15 1/2 and spent 9 years at the St. Cyprian Indian residential school. She then moved to Calgary, Alberta where she billeted with five different families to complete her Junior/Senior High school years, graduating from Senior High.
Following graduation, she moved to Provo, Utah where she enrolled in classes towards an Education Degree. She relocated to Los Angeles, California where she became a mom to two amazing boys who she adored and was extremely proud of.
While working, she began taking evening requisite nursing courses in order to attend the LA School of Nursing program, from which she graduated and began her nursing career. She was employed at the General Hospital in the Med Surgical ward for the first 5-6 years of her career, eventually working in the AIDS ward several times, when the disease was virtually unheard of. She also worked in the Women’s Hospital in the post-partum ward, and later in the male prisoner’s ward.
In 1993, Patricia made the decision to move back home since leaving for boarding school. She wanted to make connections with her parents and siblings, as she was virtually a stranger to her siblings. Leaving her sons in Los Angeles was difficult, but the decision was mutual as they were old enough to be on their own. Once home, she received her Bachelors of Nursing degree from the University of Lethbridge, and began her Nursing career in Canada. She worked for the Standoff Health center for a year. She immensely enjoyed her time there and had many unique, enjoyable experiences. In October of 1997, she began her employment with Aakom Kiiyii Health Services on Piikani Nation where she worked for 26 years, until her retirement. She reunited with cousins, family and community members, provided excellent care to her beloved residents, and made countless lifelong treasured friendships.
Patricia faced life’s challenges with quiet dignity. She demonstrated resilience and forged head on through many difficult times. Throughout her life, her kindness to others never wavered. She was always willing to offer an ear or hand to provide comfort and prayer to those around her. The lives she enriched are many. Patricia devoted herself to her community and lived her life well and on her own terms.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Dr. Bev Burton and the Dr.’s in ICU and the Care team at Lethbridge Regional Hospital for their kindness, exceptional care, and support.
A wake will be held on Tuesday, November 29 from 7-10pm and Wednesday, November 30 from 1-10pm, at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in Pincher Creek. A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 1 at the Piikani Nation Community Hall.
