Minor hockey U13 and U18AA teams split weekend games

The local double AA teams wrapped up their schedules this weekend before the Christmas break.

U13AA

The U13 AA Hurricanes opened up the weekend with a 4-1 loss to the Wheatland Braves on the road in Hussar, before ending the first half on a high with a 5-3 win over Okotoks on Saturday.

The Canes Jaxon Kraemer opened the scoring in Hussar at 19:06 of the first, before the Braves scored four straight in the win.

Keagan Grant, Jake Gerstenbuhler, Carter Smith, Hayden Charlesworth and Cohen Ng scored in the win over Okotoks. Liam Cowie had two assists in the win.

The Canes sit second in the south with a 14-4-1 record.

U18AA

The highest AA squad went out on the road and gained a split over the weekend.

The club doubled up Medicine Hat 4-2 on Saturday.

Grady Vandenhoek, John Rodie Owen Pickens, Samuel Zahorouski and Lucas Alexander scored in the win for Lethbridge.

The Canes then turned right around on Sunday and travelled to play Foothills and loss 5-3.

Rodie Owen Pickens, Keane Reid and Brett Hudey scored in the defeat.

Lethbridge sits fourth in the South Division with a 7-10-1 record.

U15AA

The U15AA team tied the Medicine Hat SEAC Hounds 4-4 on Friday at Henderson Ice Arena.

Nolan Pilsner, Karter Russell, Ryder Fomradas and Brodee Angle scored for Lethbridge in the tie.

The team sits third in the South Division with a 7-9-4 record

U16AA

For the U16AA team, it was a rough weekend as they were outscored by a combine 19-2 in two home games.

Lethbridge was shutout by Okotoks 10-0 on Saturday before losing 9-2 on Sunday to Red Deer TBS.

Layne Poirier and Parker Toth scored in the loss to Red Deer.

The team remains winless with an 0-19 record.
