City of Lethbridge Chief of Staff Carly Kleisinger has taken on a new role as Director Community Services.

Kleisinger will be overseeing that department for one year at this time, following the departure of Mike Fox earlier this week.

Community Services is a department that focuses on a wide range of programs and services within the corporation of the City of Lethbridge.

Under its umbrella are such areas as community development, public safety, facilities, and accessibility.

Through its community development responsibilities, the department is involved in “working with community partners to provide social and housing supports; community facilities and amenities and programs in sport, recreation, culture and interpretation of the natural environment,” says the City website.

The public safety role includes providing “protection to residents and their property through Fire/EMS, Public Safety Communications Centre, Bylaw Enforcement and Animal Control Services,” says the City.

The accessibility component involves providing public transportation to residents while its facilities work involves providing spaces to enrich the lives of residents while promoting a livable and attractive city.
