Logan Wormald scored with 2:12 to go in the game to lift the Lethbridge Hurricanes over the Calgary Hitmen 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Brayden Edwards and Tyson Laventure assisted on Wormald’s 21st marker of the season.
The Canes got the scoring started on Saturday, as defenceman Noah Chadwick found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the year just 1:48 into the contest.
Cole Shepard and Jett Jones drew the assists on the goal.
Edwards made it 2-0 Canes with a shorthanded goal at the 10:54 mark of the first period from Shepard.
Calgary got on the board in the second period, as Carter Yakemchuk scored his 11th of the season on the powerplay just 3:45 in from Riley Fiddler-Schultz.
Hayden Smith would restore the visitors two-goal lead with his 11th of the season at 7:42 of the second period from Chadwick and Nolan Bentham.
The Hitmen made the score 3-2 at 18:39 of the second period, as Sean Tschigerl notched his 19th of the season from Chase Valliant.
Yakemchuk scored his second of the game 5:07 into the final frame to tie the game at three before Wormald’s winner late in the third.
Oliver Tulk and Matteo Danis got assists on Yakemchuk’s 14th goal of the season.
Shots were 32-26 for the Hitmen.
Lethbridge went 0-for-3 and Calgary 1-for-3 on the powerplay.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes (31-21-3-3) won’t be back on the ice until Friday when they travel to Prince Albert to take on the Raiders at 6 p.m.
