Jagger Firkus scored a power play goal with 17 seconds to go in double overtime to give the Moose Jaw Warriors a 2-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night and take 1-0 series lead in their Best-of-7 first round series.

Moose Jaw defencemen Logan Dowhaniuk broke the ice in the second period, as he  took a  Firkus pass from behind the net in the slot and beat Canes goalie  Bryan Thomson at 4:53 to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

Lucas Brenton had the other assist.

The Canes Cole Shepard followed a puck that was deflected up in the air and deposited into the Warriors net for a shorthanded marker at 12:04 of the second period  to tie the game at one.

Brayden Edwards had the assist.

The Hurricanes had a powerplay early in overtime and failed to finish the game and were 0-for-6  on the man advantage heading into the second overtime.

Bryan Thomson was thanking his posts 12:28 into the first overtime as a Warriors goal hit the iron and stayed out.

The Warriors were 0-for-2 on the powerplay heading into the second extra period.

Moose Jaw outshot the Canes 54-51.
