U13AAs to play for gold

The Lethbridge Hurricanes U13AA hockey tram  are off to the Provincial Championship gold medal game after a pair of round-robin game wins on Friday in Olds.

Lethbridge began the day with a 5-1 win over Calgary’s NWCAA Stamps.

Jake Gerstenbuhler led the way with two goals, while Keagan Grant, Cohen NG and Rylee Cruse scored a goal each  in the win.

Maxwell Mooney scored for the Stamps.

Oliver Skog kicked out 45-of-46 shots in the game for Lethbridge.

The Canes got redemption of sorts on the Olds Grizzlys on Friday night by shutting out the provincial  hosts 4-0.

Lethbridge had four different goal scorers including Grant, Huck Davis, Jaxon Kraemer and Liam Cowie.

The big win in the tournament came after the host Grizzlys swept the Canes in the league final a couple of weeks ago.

The Canes look to wrap up to the round robin with a 4-0 record when they play Leduc at 4:15 today.

The gold medal game is 1 p.m. on Sunday.
