DUNN, Harold

1928 – 2023

Harold Coleman Dunn passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at St. Michaels Palliative Care Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta, at the age of 94 years.
Harold was born to Bert and Annie on October 31, 1928. He leaves behind his son, Duane and daughter, Mona. As well as his sister, Mel (Dennis) Cleland, brother, Howard (Louise – dec.) Dunn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Fay, infant daughter, Deborah Jean, brother, Herbert (Ethel), sister, Maxine (Joseph) Mehalko, and three stepsisters, Mryt (Dave) Bodie, Mryle (Jack) Furman, and Merlene (Tony) Wolters.
Having been born and raised on the farm, Harold’s passion for farming continued for many years. When time allowed, he enjoyed playing as a pitcher and first baseman for baseball teams in Turin, Vauxhall, and Sundial. When not playing baseball, he enjoyed curling and was skip of his own team.
Harold and Fay loved taking trips in their motorhome to Victoria, where he would go deep sea fishing. Their trips also included California, Arizona, and later an Alaskan cruise. Many trips were also made to Fairmont and Vernon, camping along the way. He shared his love for fishing and hunting as his father did.
He will be deeply missed by all that knew him and forever in the hearts of all that loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 13 St N.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prairie Tractor Club in Picture Butte, Alberta, where Harold and Fay were made lifetime honorary members for their support and generous donations over the years.

GEIGER, Barbara

BARBARA HENRIETTE GEIGER 1959 – 2023 Mrs. Barbara Henriette Geiger of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Gerald Geiger, passed away suddenly in Lethbridge on May 10, 2023, at the age of 64 years.
Barb was born in Edmonton, Alberta on February 14, 1959, a wonderful Valentines Day Gift to family and friends. She attended NAIT in Edmonton and received her CGA Diploma on March 01, 2005. On July 01, 2015, Barb received her CPA Diploma. Barb was last employed at the University of Lethbridge in the Financial Services Department. Of all her employers, she loved the U of L best.
Barbs true passion was her love for animals, and she adored her dogs and cats. She enjoyed golf and had recently taken up paddle boarding for recreation.
Besides her loving husband Gerald, Barbara is survived by her daughter Amanda; stepdaughters Morgan, Jessie and Allison; stepson Christopher; grandchildren Garret, William, Leo, Scott, and Vic; 4 sisters, Annette, Sylvia, Dagmar and Pamela; and 1 brother: Harald.
She was predeceased by her father, Wolfgang Hoppe and brother Joerg.
Barb had a heart of gold, and she will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

Logan Clair Porter, beloved husband of Jane Porter (née Keeler), passed away unexpectedly in Barnwell on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the age of 73 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, May 19, 2023 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday, May 20, 2023 between 10:00 A.M. and 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 – 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Logan is survived by his loving wife of forty eight years, Jane; his children Clinton (Vicki) Porter of Dallas, Texas, Angela (Wade) Goertzen of Barnwell, Preston (Kristin) Porter of St. George, Utah, Benson (Christy) Porter of Barnwell, Candice (Brandon) Gibb of Barnwell and Nelson (Caitlyn) Porter of Barnwell, along with twenty six grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Craig (Nancy) Porter, Shanon (Ross) Anderson, Afton (Dale) George and Ashlee (Larry) Jefferson; brother-in-law Barry Humphrey; father-in-law Joseph Keeler.
He was predeceased by his beloved son Donald Joseph Porter; parents Donald Lloyd Porter and Joyce Harris Palmer; sister Charmaine Humphrey and mother-in-law Katherine Keeler (née Allen).
Logan was born in Taber on August 13, 1949. He was raised on the family farm in Fincastle where he learned to value hard work. After high school, he served a mission in Anaheim, California for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which he always said was a pivotal time in his life. Logan obtained his private pilot’s license and also attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. Following university, he moved back to Canada and went into the irrigation and sprinkler business with his brother Craig and later his brother-in-law Ron. He met his wife Jane in Medicine Hat, where they spent the early years of their marriage and which they often looked back on with fondness. In 1980 he moved with his young family to Barnwell where they have lived ever since. Logan bought his first piece of farm land in the late 80’s in the Taber area and returned to his love of farming. His greatest joy in his later years, besides his family, was his ranch in the Cypress Hills. Logan left a legacy of hard work, perseverance, love for his family and his faith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.

Robert Gerald Clay 1933 – 2023 It is with deep sadness that the family of ROBERT GERALD CLAY (BOB), announce that he passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023 at the Chinook Regional Hospital in his home town of Lethbridge, Alberta. Bob will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Audrey Orsten
1936 – 2023
Audrey Janette Orsten, beloved wife of the late Harold “Soonie” Orsten, passed away in Lethbridge surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the age of 86 years.
A private burial service will be held at the Vauxhall Cemetery on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
The service in celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at the Vauxhall Legion, 217 – 5 Street North, Vauxhall on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
Audrey is survived by her sons Wayne (Rachel) of Airdrie, Lyle of Claresholm, Larry (Wendy) of Milk River and Rod (Buayai) of Calgary. GMA also leaves her five granddaughters who she loved more than anything in the world, Ashley (Tim), Andrea, Emily, Jennie (Brody) and Michelle. She is also survived by her brother Melvin Speager of Grand Prairie.
If Audrey wasn’t helping one of her sons or the grandkids, she could be found helping someone else in the community. As a lifetime member of the Legion, she organized countless funeral lunches for families in the local area. Audrey was recognized by the town and provincial government for her volunteerism over the years. Six years ago, she moved to the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale where she tried her best to ensure everyone received a birthday card to brighten their day.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you think of Audrey and do something nice for someone else.
A special thank you is extended to the incredible nursing staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital units 4B and 4C and to everyone at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale.

MURRAY Mary ‘Ann’ Murray, beloved wife of the late Richard ‘Blair’ Murray, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 in Magrath at the age of 96 years.
Friends may meet with the family on Friday, May 19, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garden Place Chapel, 170 N Centre Street, Magrath, Alberta from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. prior to the service. The Funeral service will be held in the same church beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Scott Wolsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Magrath Pioneer Cemetery.
