SKINNER, Jenny

SKINNER JENNY SKINNER of Lethbridge, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the age of 90 years.
Mom was born in Lethbridge on August 6, 1932. The family lived in Lethbridge until she was about 9 years old, and then they moved to the McNally area. She often talked about the White School and the horse and buggy being used at that time.
After graduating she married George Skinner. They lived in Lethbridge where they owned and operated Skinner Livestock Cartage. In 1962, they moved to a farm in West Lethbridge, better known as “The Bend.” They continued operating Skinner Livestock for many years before eventually selling the business to farm on a full-time basis. 1999 was the last year of farming as the City began development.
Mom was a Canada Trust Realtor in the early 80’s.
Mom volunteered at St. Andrew’s Church, the Handicap Social Society, and the Lethbridge Food Bank. She was on the Food Bank Board of Directors for several years, then a volunteer Co-ordinator and then employed as the Co-ordinator until her retirement in 2001.
In 1993 Mom received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of significant contributions to Community and to Canada which was given by the Governor General of Canada.
Mom is survived by special friend, Bob Gray; daughters: Sharon (Cyril) Hubbard, Debbie (Dave) McGee, and Bev Hynes; grandchildren: Shannon (Shawn) Bullock, Chris (Erin) Hubbard, Karla McGee, Scott (Kelsie) McGee, Lisa McGee, Russell (Haylee) McGee and Jamie Hynes; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Lexie Bullock, Alexander and Lucas Hubbard, Liam and Kaiya McGee, Adelita and Wyatt McGee, and Casey McGee; her brother, Brounie (Joyce) Kaminski and sister, Tedda Kaminski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, George; parents, Michael and Sophie Kaminski; brothers: Kaz Kaminski, Johnny Kaminski, and Teddy Kaminski; parents-in-law, George and Nellie Skinner; and son-in-law, Ross Hynes.
A Celebration of Jenny’s Life will be held at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 – 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday July 29, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Reverend Daniel Surya officiating.

ENTZ, Ruben

RUBEN ENTZ 1957 – 2023 Ruben Entz of Lethbridge passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Adaptacare nursing home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.

FONG, Violet

VIOLET CHUEN FONG It is with great sadness that the family of Violet Chuen Fong announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Violet passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2023.
The last of her family’s generation, Violet was the youngest girl of eight children and was predeceased by her beloved husband Lorne, parents Sun and Bow Sim Chuen; sisters Helen, Mary, and Irene; brothers George, Harry and Norman; and her sister Hazel and brother-in-law John Fong.
Born and raised in Bow Island, AB, Violet worked in the family grocery store for many years and as a teenager worked for a summer with her sister. Hazel at a glass factory in Redcliff, AB. In 1951, she married the love of her life and together they raised seven children. Violet and Lorne were partners in every sense of the word. Lorne, a well-respected and successful car salesman, was never shy about crediting much of his success to Violet’s attention to detail and organizational skills. But Violet’s children will tell you that her real skills were as a mother, as she seamlessly progressed from being their protector/teacher to their counselor/advisor to their friend/confidante. Frequent vacations with her sons and daughter as children and later on as adults were something she treasured. She enjoyed her annual road trips to Las Vegas but being able to travel to her ancestral home in China with her entire family was one of her favorite memories. Proud of her children, prouder of her grandchildren and proudest of her great-grandchildren, Violet would tell you that her greatest source of love and achievement was her family. Violet’s family meant everything to her and she meant everything to her family.
Violet will be remembered by her many friends for her kindness and generosity, but she will be especially missed by her family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Larry (Angela), children Darren (Ebony), Laura (Francois) Auger (great-grandchildren Felix, Louie, Henri) Suzanne (Clay); Gary (Denise), children Cody (Melanie), Jennifer (Neil) Schultz (great-grandchildren Harper, Isla) Alexander (Kirsta); Donald (Deb), children Brittany (John), Brandon, Breann (Ethan); Daryl; Randy (Amy), children Ryland (Kristen), Terran (Samantha); Rodney; and Valerie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Friday, July 28, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011, 4 AVENUE SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Taylor Croissant, officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

MCNAB, Thomas “Tom”

THOMAS MCNAB 1933 – 2023 Thomas (“Tom”) Gordon McNab, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023, at the age of 90 years.
He was born in Fort Macleod, AB on July 12, 1933, to Joe and Grace McNab, and his life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. A man of great dedication, Tom celebrated an incredible 69 years of marriage with his loving wife and best friend, Lou, on July 17, 2023. Their enduring love and unwavering commitment to each other were an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they raised a beautiful family and created a home filled with warmth and love.
Tom was a distinguished chartered accountant, and, throughout his career, he exemplified the excellence, passion and professionalism that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. He was a founding partner of his accounting firm, Young Parkyn McNab LLP (now Avail LLP), and his contributions to the field earned him various awards and accolades from his peers including the prestigious designation of “FCA”. He was also a valued member of the Y’s Men’s Club, where he forged lasting friendships with like-minded longtime supporters of the Lethbridge YMCA.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom had a passion for various hobbies that brought him great joy and fulfillment throughout his life: he was an avid golfer and relished spending time on the greens at the Lethbridge Country Club, where he formed many cherished friendships over the years; he spent countless hours playing cribbage, backgammon, and poker with his friends; and exhibited a remarkable talent as an artist. Tom’s creative spirit is evident in the beautiful artworks he created, leaving a lasting legacy of both his passion and his talents.
While Tom accomplished many impressive feats in his lifetime, his greatest love and joy came from his family: he was a devoted father (father-in-law) to Kirk, Guy (Tracy) and Kim (Fred); his role as grandfather brought him immense happiness; and he adored his grandchildren, Kyle (Lindsay), Shana (Dylan), Elliott, Jade, Chase, Kristen (Matt), and Karmyn (Kyle), as well as his great-grandchildren Sariah, Nathan, Jaxon, Ben, Cory, and Colbie. Their laughter and love enriched Tom’s life in countless ways.
Tom was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Ruth Selnes, who surely welcomed him with open arms into eternity. Tom’s absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A Funeral Service to honour and remember Tom will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411, 11 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Gillian Breckenridge, officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Lethbridge Country Club, where friends and family are invited to gather to share stories and reminisce about the wonderful moments they shared with Tom.

As we say goodbye, we celebrate the extraordinary life Tom lived, the love he shared, and the joy he brought into the lives of so many. May he rest in peace, reunited with his friends and loved ones, in eternal happiness.

CAMPMANS, Antonius “Tony”

CAMPMANS Mr. ANTONIUS “TONY” CAMPMANS, of Picture Butte, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his children: Doré (Chuck), John (Jacquie), Monique (Paul), Renard † (Laurie), Michael (Michelle), and Christopher (Jessica); grandchildren: Luke, Cole, Nicholas, Reed, Mackenzie, Renée, Anika, Josh, Isaac, Caleb, Kylee, Sam, Anna, Quinn, Liam, Rayann, Malia, Justin, and Sage; as well as many other relatives in Holland.
Tony was predeceased by his wife, Annie; and sons, Paul and Renard.
Dad was born in Raalte, Holland. He grew up on the farm with his five brothers and three sisters.
Dad met Mom in Holland at the neighboring farm where he worked. They met on the way to milking cows in the pasture. Mom was the first to say “hi” of course!
Dad immigrated to Canada in 1959 where he joined his brother Ted. They eventually purchased a farm and started a dairy. They started with one cow, a stool, and a hand separator.
Mom joined Dad in Canada and they were married in Picture Butte in 1965. Together with Ted they built a successful dairy.
As a team, Mom and Dad raised seven kids on the farm. Dad was passionate about his faith and instilled strong values in his children and grandchildren. He always made time for a Sunday picnic, even though it meant milking late when he was tired.
Dad said the best thing about our family was “being together”. Opa always had cookies in the cupboard, yogurt in the fridge, and ice cream in the freezer ready to be shared with grandkids who would just happen to drop by.
Thank you to the staff as the Piyami Lodge and Piyami Place for the care that Dad received.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. CATHERINE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 762 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, AB, on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. celebrated by Father Ian Gagne. For those unable to attend the Funeral Mass, a recording will be made available for viewing following the Funeral Mass.
Tony will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Annie in a Private Graveside Service.

PETERS, Roy

PETERS It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of ROY DOUGLAS PETERS of Lethbridge, AB on July 17, 2023 at the age of 75 years old.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Francine; children, Steven, Kimberly (Karl), and Donna (Cameron); grandchildren, Amanda (Cole), Michelle, Christopher, Corey, Chelsey (Tyler) and Melissa; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Roy will also be dearly missed by his sister Patricia and family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and John, as well as his brother, Duncan.
Roy was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Roy’s love for trains led him to 37 years of service with the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in 2006. The next best thing to being surrounded by palm trees was settling in LA, Lethbridge Alberta of course. He enjoyed travelling, spending time with his great-grandchildren, watching the Roughriders, and turning the volume up on his Eagles soundtrack. Roy will be especially remembered for his infectious laugh and kindred spirit that brought strength to all.
A Celebration of Life for close friends and family will be held at a later date.

SCHNEYDER, Margaret

SCHNEYDER MARGARET SCHNEYDER (née Szabo), beloved wife of Mike, passed away at the Good Samaritan Garden Vista, on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the age of 91.
Margaret (Mom) was born in Humberstone, Ontario, September 11, 1931. She moved with her parents and older brother to the Raymond area when she was one. Mom began school in Raymond and then moved with her family to the Barhill area in 1939. Her formal education ended in grade eight, when it became necessary for her to stay at home to care for her ailing mother and younger siblings.
She married Mike Schneyder in 1951 and they settled on their farm west of Magrath. In addition to caring for her young and growing family, she raised a huge garden, maintained the yard and cooked for the family and the crew that helped on the farm. Ever a hard worker, Mom also pitched in with farm tasks, doing everything from changing hand move sprinkler pipes to running the tractor and baler. Countless orphaned farm critters benefited from Mom’s nurturing and loving care.
In 1983, Mom and Dad moved from the farm and to a home in Magrath. Mom spent many hours in her yard, tending the flowers she loved and growing a smaller, but just as impressive garden.
Mom was a wonderful cook and baker, who could make a meal out of anything. Her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were often the recipients of whatever treat she had made. The kids were especially fond of her strudel. And her grandkids will always recall weekly meals around her table for “Grandma Lunch Day”.
Mom’s greatest joy was her family. She loved her kids and adored her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was always available for babysitting and she sat through countless school plays, concerts, hockey games and other sporting events. Mom never missed important events in her family’s lives and was a generous and willing community volunteer.
Mom and Dad spent their last years together at the Diamond Willow Lodge and, later, the Good Samaritan in Magrath.
Margaret is predeceased by her loyal husband, Mike, and is survived by her loving children, Donna (Gord) Gillespie, Bob (Margo) Schneyder and their children Kyle (Sam) Schneyder John, Jack & Pete , Lacey (Peter) Lappin Sage, Sierra, Sophie & Finn , and Cole Schneyder Bodhi ; Diane (Gary) Stanford and their children Matthew (Melissa) Stanford Anna, Owen, Braeden & Liam , Sean Stanford Huxley & Macie , Megan Stanford Ward Cillian , Adam Stanford (Lisa Mulgrew) Chester and Amberley Stanford; Michael (Ilona) Schneyder and their children Mikey (Savannah) Schneyder Kinzee, Conner, Riley & Berkli and Melissa (Doug) Heins Brynnlee, Kianna & Cooper ; Larry (Lisa) Schneyder and their children, Jessica (Casey) Christensen Clay, Daisy, Ruby, Elsie & Charlie , Cody (Jenni) Schneyder Jay & Winnie , Sasha (Rick) Nevarez and Justin (Jaidyn) Schneyder.
She was a wonderful Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, who will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. We love you, Mom.
