LASER, Adam Andreas Adam Andreas Laser It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden loss of Adam on July 28, 2023, at the age of 28 years.
Adam was born on May 3, 1995 in Calgary, AB. He grew up in the community of Citadel, building his treasured friend base through his years in school and his many years participating in minor hockey. Adam was also actively involved in officiating Calgary Minor and Elite Council hockey with Hockey Alberta.
After graduating from William Aberhart High School in 2013, Adam was accepted into the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Calgary. In 2018, he graduated (with great distinction) with a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization in biomedical engineering. Adam began his promising career in engineering with Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). His work family meant so very much to him from both a professional and personal growth perspective. We are grateful for the guidance and friendship of his colleagues with CNRL in Calgary, Wolf Lake, Kirby, and Jackfish, and we trust that he was able to leave an impact on them as well.
While Adam accomplished much professionally in his young life and was well known for his brilliant mind, he was better known for his kind heart. Adam lived his life with the intentionality and purpose that came from his love and relationship with Christ. He was actively involved in youth ministries at RockPointe Church for many years. There are many dear friends at RockPointe who also mourn his passing.
His desire to serve others took him to places near and far which included Place of Rescue in Cambodia, working with Syrian refugees with Mafraq Alliance Church in Jordan, and with Casa Luz, an organization in Costa Rica that supports teen mothers who have been exploited. A piece of Adam’s heart will be left at Camp Chamisall in Waiprous. He was not only a member of the Camp Board, but also volunteered each summer as a counselor of camp director, always hoping that kids would come to know the love of Christ for themselves too. Adam’s desire to care for and show love to other people was an important part of the purpose and call on his life.
The biggest piece of Adam’s heart was reserved for his beautiful wife and daughter. Adam and Jordan (nee Dyck) were married on Aug. 22, 2021. His precious daughter, Amelia, was born on May 14, 2022. Oh, how Adam loved his girls, and how he was loved in return. Adam is also survived by his loving family; his parents, Andreas and Glenda Laser, his brother, Caleb Laser (Rachel), and his sister, Natalie Laser. He is also loved and remembered by Jordan’s family; her parents, Walter and Kelly Dyck, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Nicole Dyck and Derek Rolheiser. Adam is also survived by his grandparents, Horst and Trudy Laser, his aunts and uncles: Glenn and Susan Held, Greg and Beki Held, Tammy and Bob Harder, Mark and Debbie Laser, Oliver and Karen Laser, and Ray and Christine Laser. Adam is also survived by many (many) cousins who will remember their time with Adam always being filled with laughter and love. Adam was predeceased by his grandparents, Heinz and Monika Held.
A memorial service for Adam is planned for Saturday, August 5th at 11am at RockPointe Church (Bearspaw site – 255024 Lochend Road, Calgary). The service will also be available through live stream (https://livestream.com/rockpointecalgary/adamlaserfuneral).
The Laser family has been greatly touched by the kindness and love of all those who will also miss Adam. We would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Adam’s memory to Camp Chamisall (www.campchamisall.com) or Casa Luz (www.casaluz.org)
