The Lethbridge Hurricanes have acquired 2005-born forward Kooper Gizowski and a seventh-round draft pick in the 2026 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2026.
Gizowski, 18, was originally a selected in the second-round (40th overall) by Spokane in the 2020 WHL Draft. The Edmonton product collected 26 points (11g-15a) along with 35 penalty minutes in 65 regular season games in 2022- 2023. In two seasons with the Chiefs, Gizowski totaled 34 points (15g-19a) along with 58 penalty minutes in 112 regular season contests.
The 5’9, 170-pound forward spent his WHL draft season with the Northern Alberta U15 Prep team where he racked up 51 points (27g-24a) along with 26 penalty minutes in just 29 games. Over two seasons with the NAX U15 Prep team, Gizowski totalled 83 points (43g-41a) and 58 penalty minutes in just 58 regular season games while adding five points in seven post-season games.
The Hurricanes are set to open training camp on Aug. 31 before opening the pre-season action on Sept. 5. The ‘Canes will begin 2023-2024 regular season with their home opener against the Swift Current Broncos on Sept. 22.
