Catering company launches new brand

LA Chefs has been in business for approximately over 18 years, with more than 15,000 events catered to, including over 1,000 weddings.

Marci Stickel owner and CEO of L.A. Chefs Catering & Events said this week that is has ow combined all its different brands under one umbrella entity to operate as Sky + Table Event Group.

“We’ve just felt it was kind of confusing to have all of those individual brands and managing them all separately with separate teams and things like that. So we wanted to create an over overarching brand, or an umbrella brand, to encompass all of them, so that we would come across to the client as a full-service event company,” said Stickel.

Stickel said originally she had no interest in the catering business.

“I was pulled into that business kicking and screaming,” she recalled when LA Chefs was first created.

Although Stickel had a previous career in finance and owned a restaurant with a former business partner she recollected her struggles with the restaurant going out of business and having to start from scratch.

More than 20 years later Stickel is the owner and CEO of an award-winning catering events company.

“It’s still hard to believe all the things we’ve accomplished and how far we’ve come,” voiced Stickel.

In 2011 LA Chefs won Business of the Year through the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce. Stickel said it was during this time she realized the value of her company.

“It really clicked for me then that this was a great business, and everybody loved it…And that’s when I decided to really make a go of this. And I’m sure glad I did. One of the most rewarding things for me has been watching our staff grow as the company grows. Seeing them have fun, seeing their dedication and watching them succeed.”

Stickel said there was a need for a brand which showcased all their services. “We just felt that we needed a brand that really showcase everything that we do. And it’s not just food.”

Stickel noted LA Chefs will continue to run under the same name and Sky + Table Event Group is simply the umbrella company for family of brands working together event and catering services.

“On that note, LA Chef still exists. We have not changed the name. But it’s now just one sort of sub brand underneath the Sky and Table brand.”
