The Lethbridge and District Exhibition announced Tuesday it will be lighting up the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre during the holiday season with an interactive event.

The interactive event ‘Glow’ promises to give those in attendance an opportunity to embark on a magical journey around the world and is coming to Lethbridge for the first time to the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre.

Lethbridge and District Exhibition CEO Mike Warkentin told media Tuesday they are very excited to kick- off their very first holiday season in the new building and to bring this one-of-a-kind holiday lights spectacle to Lethbridge.

“This is the first of many of these national immersive displays and shows that we hope to bring into the building, this is one that for many years we saw how popular it was around the country, we saw how instagrammable it was, and how it created so much traction out in the community to bring people together from across the country,” said Warkentin.

He said multiple events will be taking place throughout the month of December, and Glow Lethbridge will be a nice compliment to everything happening at the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre.

“Glow is a truly unique experience. The nice thing about it is that you’re cozy and warm inside the confines of this building, but you get to experience all the magic of the holiday season. iIt’s millions of twinkling lights, it is an experience around the world,” said Warkentin.

He said those in attendance will get to journey to some of the world’s most iconic landmarks in six different countries and to see a little bit about how Christmas is celebrated in those countries all from the comfort of the Agri-food Hub Trade and Centre.

“We do have a passport program so you’ll actually get to go and experience each of the different pavilions so to speak within the glow show,” said Warkentin.

Visitors will tag along on Santa’s journey and visit the world’s luminous landscapes, including the twinkling Eiffel Tower, the majestic Taj Mahal, the stately London Bridge and more as they help Santa spread the festive spirit.

In addition to the stunning light display, visitors can get free photos with Santa, enjoy live entertainment, try tasty holiday beverages, play on the children’s playground, and more.

He said they are anticipating this event to be their biggest yet within the new building.

“We are anticipating anywhere from 20,000 to 35,000 people to come through the exhibit over the six weeks,” said Warkentin.

He said they are planning on doing local acts to celebrate the holiday season and support the local artists and they are working with choral groups as well as musical artists to build that lineup and will have that information available in the coming weeks.

Glow will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays from Nov. 23 to Dec. 31. It will take place in both the DA Steel Buildings and K.B. Heating and Air Conditioning Halls in the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre.

“We look forward to welcoming the greater southern Alberta community to celebrate their holiday season here with us,” said Warkentin.
