The Everett Silvertips handed the Lethbridge Hurricanes their third loss in four games with a 5-1 win at the Enmax Centre on Wednesday night.
“I’ll use the word that you kind of used, that we kind of used in the room, is uninspired for sure ,” said Hurricanes assistant coach Ryan Aasman to Dustin Forbes of 106.7 Rock, on the effort.
“Compete is such an easy thing. I mean working and compete, they’re hard things to do but they’re really simple to do it and we chose not to do those things today. And it started right from the get-go … We started every shift not ready to go with our details.”
The Silvertips opened up the scoring at 13:22 of the first period when Julius Miettinen scored his fourth of the year from Teague Patton and that is where the score stood after one period.
The second period started with a Leo Braillard slap shot finding the back of the net just 18 seconds into the frame to tie the game at one.
That goal was the only one the Canes would score the rest of the way.
Everett grabbed a 2-1 lead at the 3:46 mark of the second when Dominik Rymon scored his ninth of the season.
The Silvertips made it 3-1 when Patton scored at the six- minute mark of the second.
Miettinen notched his second of the night at 12 minutes of the third.
Carter Bear scored the Silvertips fifth goal with 38 seconds left in the game.
Everett went 2-for 6 and the Canes went 0-for-2 on the powerplay.
Shots were 29-20 for the Silvertips.
The Hurricanes (8-6-2) will hit the road to play the Medicine Hat Tigers (9-4-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m.
