Golden Hawks, Hurricanes split weekend games

The Val Matteotti Golden Hawks U15AAA hockey team were on both ends of six-goal games over the weekend.

The Hawks opened  with a 6-3 win over the Calgary Royals on Friday on the road.

Damen Vandenburg lead the way with a hat trick, followed by Dawson Spence with two goals and Lincoln Eaves had a goal to supply the offence in the win.

It was the next day the Golden Hawks were edged 6-4 in Okotoks by the Oilers.

Spence had a goal and two assists, while Eaves, Owen Demone and Maxton Okubo each had a goal in the loss.

The Golden Hawks (5-7-0-2) will host the Calgary Northstars  (11-4-0-0)on Sunday afternoon at 2:45 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran.

 U17AAA

The U17AAA Headwater Hurricanes split their road games over the weekend in Calgary.

Lethbridge started with a 3-1 loss to Lloydminster on Saturday.

Keetly McAulay scored the lone goal in the defeat for the Canes.

The Canes rebounded with a 4-3 overtime win over the GP Storm on Saturday.

McAulay scored the overtime winner just 36 seconds into overtime to cap off a two-goal performance in the game.

Parker Toth and Ryder Fomradas also scored in the game for Lethbridge.

The U17AAAs (3-10) will be back in action on Saturday at the Logan Boulet Arena at 3 p.m. against Fort Saskatchewan (1-9-0-1)

 U18AAA

The U18AAA Hurricanes lost both of their road games by 6-1 scores to the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs and CFR Bisons on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Aidyn Law scored the lone goal on Saturday and Carter Dersch scored on Sunday.

Lethbridge (5-10-0-3)will look to get back on track when they host Calgary Buffaloes (12-5-0-1)on Friday (7:15 p.m.) or when they host the Calgary North Stars (7-9-0-3)on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Nicholas Sheran.
