April showers are supposed to bring May flowers but for the Victoria Day long weekend they may be bringing us more showers.

And that could put a damper on long weekend shenanigans across the region.

After a good soaking on Friday, Lethbridge should see some sun mixed in with the clouds today and Sunday before the rain returns Monday.

A high of only 15 is expected here today and 14 on Sunday while Monday will be even cooler with the daytime temperature only reaching 13. And there is an 80 per cent chance of up to five millimetres of rain on Monday.

For campers heading west to the Crowsnest Pass for their first outing of the spring season, wool socks might be better to pack than sunscreen since the high today will only reach 7. And there’s a chance of snow today, as well. On Sunday, the Pass can expect thunderstorms with a high of only 5 and an 80 per cent chance of rain or snow – potentially up to four centimetres of the white stuff. Monday’s forecast calls for a high of 8 along with cloudy skies and a 40 per cent chance of rain.

Visitors to Waterton Lakes National Park this weekend can expect a 60 per cent chance of rain and possibly snow today, with an 80 per cent chance of between five and 10 cms of rain in the forecast for Sunday – and perhaps snow, too. The final day of the long weekend will be gloomier there with cloud, rain and snow expected.

Wet conditions are also forecast for the Pincher Creek area which will see partly cloudy skies today and a 60 per cent chance of rain. On Sunday that area could get 10 mm of rain Sunday and between two and four more on Monday.

People heading south won’t escape the wet weather either. Between 1 and 3 cms of rain is in the forecast for Kalispell today and up to 10 cms Sunday.

Great Falls, however, will only see a 30 per cent chance of rain today along with a balmy high of 18. But it will potentially see rain on Sunday.

People heading to Calgary this weekend can expect partly cloudy skies today but an 80 per cent chance of rain Sunday and another five cms on Monday. A similar outlook is in store for the provincial capital.
