The Lethbridge Bulls are in the early stages of the second half of the Western Canadian Baseball League and the club looks to continue the momentum as most players now know their roles on the team.
Bulls head coach Ryan MacDonald feels the team has figured it out with pitching, roles on the team with hitting and positionally.
“Guys have their roles kind of set now,” said MacDonald.
“We have our set line-up, it took us a few games to kind of figure it out, but what we’ve been doing has been working and again just kind of keep it rolling.”
The team has been able to keep it rolling, according to MacDonald, with strong starting pitching and bullpen, a top-notch defence that commits very few errors and the hitting providing a lot of offence.
“Everyone’s kind of settled in now and we can kind of grow a as a group,” said MacDonald.
The defence has kept the Bulls in ball games.
“It’s one of the things that’s been eye-opening for sure,” said MacDonald.
“I knew we were going to be able to swing it but I wasn’t too sure about the defensive end.”
MacDonald thinks Haney, Scott Hansen, Tyler Monroe and Carlin Dick have had solid seasons.
“The goal is to win every game, win the day and win every pitch we can, “ said Kalem Haney.
The Bulls found themselves battling through games early on in the first half with less players.
“It was kind of a wash (in) our first few games just because we didn’t have our full team here ,” said MacDonald.
“It’s just kind of battle through it until you get all your guys here and try to hang on( and) not fall too much behind everybody else. I think we did a really good job of that.”
The Bulls have a record of 21-15 through 36 games and are seven games out of first place.
