It was a tough opening day on Wednesday for Lethbridge’s American Legion baseball teams at their respective State tournaments.
The AA Elks lost 8-4 to the Billings Scarletts at the American Legion Class AA Montana-Alberta State Tournament in Helena.
Karsen Haney and Ben Puszkar each had two hits and the River Hope took the loss on the mound.
Haney also had three runs batted in.
The Elks play the Bozeman Bucks in an elimination game today at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Miners lost 4-2 to the Glacier Twins at the State ‘A’ tournament in Polson, Mont.
Carter Mann went 1-for-4 with one run batted in and Carter Bevans took the loss on the mound for Lethbridge.
The Miners will look to keep their season alive in an elimination game against the Mile City Mavericks this morning at 9 a.m.
