HORVATH, Jane JANE HORVATH 1939 – 2024 It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of our beloved mom, gramma, and great-gramma on July 31, 2024.
Jane was born alongside her twin brother Joe on March 4, 1939, to parents Andy and Helen Tollin in Taber, AB.
Our sweet Jane was a very hard worker from a young age that started with hoeing beets in the fields near Taber.
Jane met and fell in love with her husband James and they were married in 1959.
In 1961, they welcomed their only daughter, Sherry.
As a family, they loved being at the lake out on the boat every weekend.
In later years, Jane and Jim had a passion for travelling in their motorhome down South, Jane’s favorite stop being Mesa, AZ.
Jane’s pastimes and hobbies included gardening, she had a special green thumb for her tomato plants and pink peonies, bingo nights, and horseracing. She also loved to sit in her sunroom and do puzzles. Through her life she found a deep love for animals, in particular birds and her beloved German Shephard ‘Sambo’.
Family was most important to Jane, and nothing made her heart happier than the many sleepovers with her two granddaughters full of playing board games and making JELLO. She adored it when her six great-grandchildren came to visit, spoiling them with treats. Everywhere we went with you, Gramma was an adventure.
Culture was also very important to Jane as she loved to showcase her Ukrainian heritage by making the best cabbage rolls and Christmas cookies. In her later years, she found excitement in gathering with her ‘coffee crew’ every morning at Tim Horton’s, then thoroughly enjoyed her evening game shows.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all of her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband James, twin brother Joe, sisters Anne, Mary and Helen.
Jane is survived by her daughter Sherry (Ariano), granddaughters Sherese and Shalane (Greg). Great-grandchildren Danica, Owen, Sophia, Lucas, Aaron, and Logan. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 13th St N, Lethbridge, Alberta.
Funeral service will also be held at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home at 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.
