For Lethbridge Hurricanes forward, Logan Wormald, he plans on being a leader with the club as a 19-year-old and hopes to stay healthy for a whole season.
“ That’s something I’m super excited for and to kind of guide the young guys in the right direction,” said Wormald, on being a leader.
Since joining the Canes in the 2021-2022 season, he feels that he has played well on both sides of the puck and wants to continue that and being an effective special teams player.
“I mean both (of) those things are huge for our team and … playing on both sides of the puck, I mean that’s pretty big for our team,” said Wormald.
Wormald feels that he can help more on the offence as well this year.
The line of Wormald, Miguel Marques and Brayden Edwards, who amassed 202 points between the three of them last year, will not ease their way into the new season .
“I feel like getting right back to it is a big thing for us and not easing our way into things,” said Wormald.
“I feel like us three have played together long enough where we can make a step right away and be good together right off the hop.”
A focus for Wormald is to play a full year healthy after playing just 58 games due to injuries last season and suited up for all four playoff games
“So that’s something I talked about (with) the coaches and they want me to get to,” said Wormald.
“That’s a huge goal for me. I’d like to play all 68 games and hopefully playoffs .”
Wormald worked a bunch of different things with his trainer to ensure that he makes it through a full season.
“Worm had a good year last year,” said Bill Peters, Hurricanes head coach.
“(The year) unfortunately got interrupted a little bit. He had a couple injuries that were unforeseen, (there is) nothing you can do about that. It’d be nice to see him play all 68 games and be consistent from start to finish.”
Wormald has 140 points(55 goals, 85 assists) in 179 games played with the Canes.
