Softball Valley is thinking about its community again this year with their second annual food bank night on Thursday night.

This is the second annual food bank night after last year brought in around $1,700 in food value for the Lethbridge Food Bank.

“ That’s part of our mandate that we’ve decided as a board of directors at Softball Valley, (is that) we’re lucky to be stewards of this property, so we try to give back to the community as much as we can,” said Hank Stoffer, Soft Ball Valley’s facility manager.

Players and the general public are encouraged drop off food donations at the diamonds.

“So if you bring a donation, you get your name in for a draw and we got some pretty nice prizes to giveaway ,” said Stoffer.

During the fall ball league season, there is a theme night every Thursday on top of the recreational league played.

There have been hockey and football nights in the past.

Softball Valley have donated the park to a couple of fundraising tournaments and youth groups for events.

The one tournament raised $30,000 for housing in Mexico and with the other one it was uncertain where the funds went.
