SIEGMUND, Gunther “Red” SIEGMUND 1938 – 2024 It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of GUNTHER “RED” SIEGMUND announce his passing on September 24, 2024 at the age of 86 years (or 43 on each side as he would say).
Gunther was born February 2, 1938 in East Prussia, Germany. Facing the hardships of war, the family immigrated to Canada and arrived in Halifax at Pier 21 on July 1st, 1952. Shortly after travelled by train to Lethbridge and settled down in Picture Butte and eventually relocated to Coaldale.
In his younger years, he had very red hair which gave him the nickname “Big Red”, that has been what people have called him for decades.
In 1959, he worked for Broder’s Canning Company and met the love of his life, Pat and they got married on May 7, 1960. While residing on a farm near Coaldale, they had their daughter Vikki, and in 1962 along came son Jerry. They moved back to Lethbridge while Red worked as a Welder for Western Metal Fabricators and in 1964 welcomed their son Rob before moving to Red Deer to work at Canada Packers. In 1977, they returned to Lethbridge where he worked at Victory Equipment until accepting a position at Canada Packers. In 1990, after Canada Packers closed operations in Lethbridge, Red worked at XL Foods Hide Plant as their night time welder/maintenance man until retiring in 2006.
During his career, Red made many close friends over the years and always had the best neighbors. His hobbies included painting as he was an extremely talented artist, fishing, hunting, checking his lotto tickets and buying crossword scratch tickets, planting, tinkering in his garage and visiting with people – there was no such thing as a quick run to the store for Red.
There was nothing Red couldn’t fix, he was the jack of all trades. With his “waste not want not” attitude, he was able to build his 2 storey dream garage using the cinder blocks that were in their backyard. Complete with an art studio on the top storey. Although he had a lot of things, which made it hard to maneuver around in the garage, however if there was anything you needed, he knew exactly where it was without worry. Unfortunately as years went on, mobility was an issue which made him unable to climb the stairs to the top storey. Until the day of his passing he carried around photos in his wallet of his paintings to show people.
Red will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Pat; children, Victoria “Vikki” Hallowell, Gerald “Jerry” (Wendy) Siegmund, Rob Siegmund; grandchildren Nichole “Nikki” (David) Van Eden, Spencer Siegmund, Taylor Siegmund, Tanner Siegmund; great- grandchildren Brinley Van Eden & Daxton Van Eden; and sister Ingrid Siegmund. He always had a special bond with nephew Wyatt Pickering and considered him like a son. He will be dearly missed by numerous extended family members and friends including special friend Mel Groves.
Red was predeceased by his parents Erich & Klara Siegmund; his brother Udo Siegmund and sisters Brigitte (Allen) Davidson and Hildegard “Hilda” (Alvin) Pickering.
Red’s passion was his family, they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren – smiles were immediate on his face when he saw them, he was so proud to be their Papa. Red was a great friend to many.
A Memorial service will be held at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
Red will be remembered for his extremely positive (glass full) attitude, hard working ethic, his calm nature, incredible humour, wisdom, his giving soul and his contagious smile!
He loved completely, cared deeply and will be profoundly missed.

LAMMERTSEN, Arlene LAMMERTSEN Come to me, all you who are weary and burden and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28) In our Lord’s infinite wisdom, he chose to call His beloved child, ARLENE BRENDA LAMMERTSEN, home to be with Him on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the age of 63, after a brief illness. It was in Edmonton that she met her love, George, and they were married on July 29th, 1983. From that time on, they were on a wonderful adventure and they soon welcomed their sons, Ryan and Tyler.
One of Arlene’s great joys was the care and teaching of children. Arlene followed her passion while they lived in Beiseker, and later when they moved to Lethbridge, volunteering for many years at her church’s Sunday School program. She worked for many years at Park Meadows Christian Playschool, with wonderful colleagues to offer the best preschool program in Lethbridge. Even more recently, Arlene recalled many of her wonderful students, who shared great memories with “Teacher Arlene”.
Arlene’s greatest delight was in her grandchildren. She loved to be with them, both in person and via Facetime, whether reading books, doing arts and crafts or watching their school or sport events. Her pride in her grandkids was immense and she was not only “Grammie”, but teacher and friend.

Sports were a big part of Clint’s life, and he spent much time coaching and reffing throughout Southern Alberta. Clint was dedicated to coaching both of his children, Brady and Kyra, in all the sports they played. There are many banners hung in schools across the south in which he proudly supported athletes in championship games.
Clint was the Superintendent of Picture Butte Golf Club. He loved his career and the people that he worked side by side with every day. He had a passion for making the golf course a beautiful place for golfers. He often spoke of his grandfather, Pete Erais who guided him to follow in his career path while becoming a Superintendent of Golf. Clint was a talented golfer himself and could hit the ball longer than most (although not always straight). GRUBB, Cletus GRUBB CLETUS GRUBB, of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, passed away in Calgary on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. His final days were spent surrounded by family.
He is survived by his brother Lee Grubb and sisters: Ruth Tabbert, Loretta Fairey and Lavelda Krisko. Cletus will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Anna and Simon Grubb, brother Ervin Grubb and sisters Florence Reese and Eleanor Rud.
Cletus was born August 8th, 1933, where he grew up on the family farm. As a young boy, he was part of 4H and helped his sisters groom their steers for showing. He also played local softball, where he was known for his home runs and was the league batting champion in 1962.
Farming with his brother Ervin was a big part of his life; he spent many hours in the field and enjoyed unloading grain during harvest. They worked hard to expand the family farm south of Gull Lake (up on the bench), eventually renting the farm to the Carmichael Colony. After moving to Lethbridge in 2006, he continued to be very engaged in farm decisions up to his passing.
Although a large part of his time was farming, Cletus’ passion was working with cattle. There was nothing he enjoyed more than driving through the pasture at sunset with a cup of coffee checking the cattle. He always said they looked better at that time of day. He was a buyer at the Maple Creek auction and eventually worked with Balog Auction as a fieldman and buyer, resurrecting the Tompkins auction barn. Those were busy years travelling around the country organizing cattle for the next big sale. Even once he moved to Lethbridge, Cletus continued buying and selling cattle for a good number of years and working with Balog. Cletus was very respected in the cattle industry and was known for his honesty and integrity.
A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Jim Manzara officiating. The Memorial Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Cletus’ obituary on the Cornerstone website.
