After a successful inaugural year Glow Lethbridge is coming back to the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre with a new theme, new theme nights and a new marketplace from Nov. 27 to Dec. 31.

Paul Kingsmith, director, community engagement with Lethbridge & District Exhibition spoke to media after the launch ceremony Wednesday and said this year’s theme is Santa’s Sleigh Adventure and early bird price tickets are available now.

“The response we got last year is really at the heart of why we wanted to do this again. We heard from the community that it was an event that they enjoyed having,” said Kingsmith.

He said the crowds just kept getting bigger and bigger as the days went on and they heard from people that they missed it because they didn’t know it was happening, while also hearing from people who visit Glow multiple times.

“And there seems to be an appetite for people to want to do this year, to make it part of their holiday traditions. So, we’re very excited that we were able to bring it back and do this again,” said Kingsmith.

He said last year they had over 20,000 visitors during their 26 event nights and they were thrilled with the response and it surpassed their expectations. And it is because the community response and support they had last year that they are able to do it again this year.

In addition to familiar favourites from last year, including free visits with Santa Claus, a kids’ craft corner, festive treats and drinks, and a scavenger hunt, this year Glow Lethbridge is introducing a variety of new experiences.

“We have Santa Sleigh Adventure coming in this year. Last year was the around the world theme. So, even if you came to Glow last year, we’re going to see different lights in different displays and get to see it in a different way,” said Kingsmith.

He said the Glow Lethbridge theme nights give visitors the opportunity to really get into the holiday spirit. From pajama parties to dance parties, ugly sweater nights to visits with superheroes and princesses, family movie nights and more, people can choose to visit on a day where the theme matches their festive mood.

In addition to the regular theme nights, Glow Lethbridge is offering this year three special nights.

Glow Without Limits on Dec. 4, a sensory-friendly experience designed to allow those who may be sensitive to loud noises, large crowds, and other sensory experiences to enjoy Glow Lethbridge with their friends and family.

Glow After Dark takes place on Dec. 19 and offers an 18+ experience that includes a catered dinner and a performance from Lethbridge’s popular Dueling Pianos. Perfect for a holiday date night or get together with friends.

Neon Night NYE Party takes place on Dec. 31 and returns the popular tradition of a family-focused New Years Eve party to Lethbridge & District Exhibition, featuring a DJ dance party, fun New Years Eve accessories and a “midnight” countdown.

Kingsmith added they also have revamped the kids play area with bouncy castles and more fun activities.

“We have Glen the Glow-comotive, which is a train ride for young children. It’s been super popular at glows that have taken part in other cities, so we’re really excited that we could bring that in this year,” said Kingsmith.

He said they are also introducing the Twinkle Town Market this year, which is a chance for local vendors so showcase their goods.

“Christmas is a time of year where people are looking for one-of-a-kind gifts, so we’ll have that right within the Glow show. We’ve already had vendors lining up excited to be a part of it and we know that the community will get behind that,” said Kingsmith.
