It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Lethbridge Hurricanes top line of Logan Wormald, Miguel Marques and Brayden Edwards are clicking early on this season.
The trio are producing at a high rate as between the three of them they have a total of 78 points through 18 games.
“We’ve played together for three or four years now and I feel like that’s a huge part of our success,” said Wormald.
“I feel like we know each other well out there and we can basically read each other’s minds out there. I mean we’ve been clicking recently, like you said, and we (have) just got to keep it up.”
Wormald doesn’t feel like anything has changed with their approach.
“We’ve been connected for a while now and I feel like as we get older we’re all getting more confident here,” said Wormald.
Marques thinks it’s been building off of the last couple of years when it comes to opening the ice up for one another.
“Since I was 15, I (have) got to play with those two and they’re both great players,” said Marques.
“They make a lot of plays for me, they make it real easy on me, they get open and I can find them too. It’s been pretty good so far and obviously we just got to keep that going.”
Marques thinks the line’s defensive side has improved this year.
“I think that’s kind of been the biggest thing, just making sure we’re taking care of our own end and then obviously just taking care of the offence when that comes and make sure we’re capitalizing on our chances,” said Marques.
Edwards thought him and his line had good off seasons.
“We all put in the work this summer,” said Edwards.
“(We) all got a little faster, stronger (and) improved our game in several ways.”
Wormald does not feel the line is obligated to carry the offence.
“I feel like we have contributions throughout our line-up every night and I feel like we’re just a few of those older guys that need to keep contributing in order for the team to win and it’s not always going to be us that contributes,” said Wormald.
Marques had nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points, Wormald has 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points and Edwards has 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points.
The trio will look to keep the offensive production going when the Canes host the Victoria Royals tonight at 6 p.m.
