Toronto poet-novelist Anne Michaels has won the Giller Prize for her novel “Held,” a multi-generational examination of war, trauma and love. The winner refused interviews at the gala, which took place under the shadow of protests by members of the literary community who criticize award sponsors that are associated with Israeli military.
More coming.
Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version included the wrong title for Anne Michaels’ book, “Held.”
