Cong will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her. She was the heart and soul of our family. She devoted her life to her children and her late husband who she was married to for 68 years before he passed away on December 15, 2020. She courageously played the role of mother and father when her husband was kept away for many years in numerous communist hard labor camps as a political prisoner. Despite these struggles, she always provided a loving and warm home for her children.
As a family, we grieve her loss, but take comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad are together again.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude for their kindness and wonderful loving care of Cong: Dr. Mona Cassis, Dr. Aaron Coma, doctors and nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital, HomeCare nurses and therapists, Northside Sobeys Pharmacy pharmacists, and Family Services Personal Care Aiders.

SAUTER, Evelyn “Marie” Evelyn “Marie” Sauter April 12, 1932 – December 13, 2024 It is with heavy hearts, but fond memories, that the family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Marie passed away at Adaptacare Cedar Creek in Lethbridge, Alberta. Marie was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Clarence (2016), parents William and Annie Holowaty (Pich), her brothers Walter and Joe, sister-in-law Faye, nephew Gary and niece Patricia Holowaty.
Marie is survived by her children and grandchildren: Kimball (Marlene) Sauter; Kayla-Marie (Allen) Flores, Darren (Amber) and Travis (Sarah) Sauter; Holly-Ann Sauter (Jamie Pitt – deceased in 2018), April Madarasz (Rob Ensign), Kristina Madarasz and Janell Madarasz (Justice Atwood).
Marie loved gardening, especially her numerous flower gardens and favorite roses.
She loved doing all sorts of crafts, from knitting, crocheting, to wheat weaving, but will always be remembered for her oil painting. Spending about 30 years belonging to the Lethbridge Sketch Club. She spent many hours dabbing in oils, drinking coffee and making many friends.
Mom met Dad at a dance, and that was the start of 61 great years of marriage. They tried to go to as many dances as they could, leading to 50+ years as Legion members. I told mom, I think your years of hip/back problems were caused by too much jiving.
To all who took care of Marie at Chinook Regional Hospital; 4A, 5B and 4C, and Adaptacare, I thank you so very much for all of your kindness and care. You were all her “angel babies”.
As per Marie’s request, there will be a private family funeral held.
