FAUSER
MR. HORST FAUSER, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Calgary Foothills Hospital, Burn Unit, on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the age of age of 82 years.
He is survived by his three children and their families, Ulla Susanne (Paige and Michael), Robert (Sandy) and Elke (Shawn, Sébastien, Heather, Geneviève, Marc-Antoine and Jennifer).
Horst is also survived by his sister, Ingrid in Weimar, Germany, her two daughters Karin and Dagmar, their families and his beloved Ellen.  He was predeceased by his parents, Curt & Ilse, both of Weimar, Germany.
Horst came to Canada in 1959, after completing his journeyman, plant supervisor and Masters Papers in the Dairy Industry.  He took on cultured products at the Purity Dairy and was the first to make yogurt in Alberta in 1959/60.  In 1969 he purchased the Star Market and fulfilled a dream to be his own business owner. He learned a whole new set of skills as a landlord for many years as well.  A deep appreciation for the opportunity to hunt and fish in Canada led to his lifelong involvement in the Fish & Game Association serving as President of both the local Lethbridge Club and the Provincial Association as well as a term as Director of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. He was proud of his Outdoorsman of the Year Award.
Some of his favorite accomplishments were the reintroduction of wild turkeys in various locations in AB and BC and the establishment of the McGillivray Youth Camp in the Crowsnest Pass. He won numerous awards, titles and certificates over the years for both his hunting and his wildlife conservation efforts.  He so loved the outdoors that he spent a great majority of his life’s leisure time at his cabins at Lee Lake and at Kootenay Lake.  Dad was sure to see the world as well. He went on many trips from Antarctica to Alaska, China, Japan, throughout eastern Canada, to beaches and islands, through canals and over the Andes and also of course repeated flights over the years to Germany to visit family and friends, travel about and even hunt wild boar.
Dad was proud of his children and grandchildren, he was proud of his adventures and travels and his life.  He loved his Bismarck, his German music, regular card games with good old friends, a good criminal novel and of course hunting and making his own amazing sausages.

NOVEMBER 28, 2013
William (Bill) Gross of Lethbridge passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villas on November 28, at the age of 95 years, only three months after the passing of his loving wife of 68 years, Katherine Alberta Gross.
Bill is survived by one daughter Terry Shannon of Lethbridge, granddaughter Erynn Shannon and her husband Szab Hajdu of Calgary, sister Irene Elle of Medicine Hat, brother Anton (Florence) of Kelowna, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by two infant daughters, siblings John, Felix, Emily Lutz, Judy Johnson, Louise Danielson, Madeline McIntosh, Phyllis Smith, Mary Amstatter and son-in-law Norm Shannon.

Bill was an exceptionally hard worker, being very much a perfectionist in all his endeavors. He was active in the Lethbridge Curling Club, Flying Club and Alberta Flying Farmers. He enjoyed piloting his Cessna to the farm, to visit family across the province, and to various club events. Bill played the saxophone in several bands and received his ham radio license. He was an inventor of sorts. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t solve or a thing he couldn’t fix or build. He took pride in keeping a beautiful garden and many happy times were spent on camping trips, and gathering around the family dinner table.
Thanks for always being there for us, Dad/Grandpa. We love you.
A private family service will be held at a later date in Medicine Hat, with an interment to follow for both William and Katherine in Medicine Hat’s Hillside Cemetery.
