Logan Wormald scored his hat trick goal 4:39 into overtime to give the Lethbridge Hurricanes a a 3-2 road victory over the Tri-City Americans on Wednesday night.
Brayden Edwards and Noah Chadwick assisted on Wormald’s 24th goal of the year.
The Hurricanes broke the ice in this game when Wormald scored his 22nd of the season from Leo Braillard and Tristen Doyle 4:22 into the first period to give the Canes a 1-0 lead.
Wormald notched his second of the game with just under 90 seconds to go in the opening period from Edwards to give Lethbridge a 2-0 lead.
Max Curran cut the Canes lead in half just 45 seconds into the second period with his 12th goal of the year from Terrell Goldsmith and Jake Sloan.
Gavin Garland tied the game 9:48 into the third period with his 20th goal of the season to send the game to overtime.
Both teams went 0-for-3 on the powerplay.
Jackson Unger stopped 29-of-31 American shots while Luka Matecha saved 38 shots out of 41 that went his way.
The Canes got their first win in Kennewick since December 1999.
Lethbridge (24-14-1-1) have now won five straight games and will look to continue that streak when they visit the Wenatchee Wild on Friday night.
They are 3-0 on this current five-game road trip.
