The Lethbridge U16 AAA Headwater Hurricanes dropped the first game 4-3
in double overtime of their opening round series against the Okotoks
Oilers on Wednesday night.
Okotoks’ Nash Wassling scored 4:49 into the second overtime.
After a scoreless first period, it was the Hurricanes that got on the
board in the second as Rhyle Weaselhead scored at 9:10 from Kasey Jr.
Russell and Paul VandenElzen on the powerplay.
Adrien Fox made it 2-0 ‘Canes at 13:06, while Jr. Russel scored to
make it 3-0 at 13:06.
Okotoks would get a goal back with under two minutes to go in the second
period off the stick of Wyatt Yule.
The Oilers would open the third period with a goal 50 seconds from
Brayden Schwartz.
Schwartz would tie the game at 3-3 a short time later.
The Hurricanes will look to extend their season as Game 2 goes Saturday
afternoon, 3 p.m., at the Logan Boulet Arena.
