Sometimes, you wake up and say to yourself, “You know what? I want to consume 32 ounces of meat today.” When that super common and not at all strange feeling strikes, there’s only one place you need to go, and that place is Ralph's Texas Bar & Steak House in Medicine Hat, Alberta. This absolutely enormous burger has been challenged by many, but only a few people have actually succeeded in eating the whole thing.
But before we dive into the giant burger of it all, we need to get one thing straight. While the fact that they serve a comically large burger might make Ralph's Texas Bar & Steak House sound like a bit of a novelty, it’s actually a very normal establishment otherwise. They’ve got a wide range of delicious dishes, a great vibe, and tons of loyal customers who come to enjoy steaks and other awesome menu items, watch sports, and attend a range of fun events and parties.
We’ll tell you more about Ralph’s later, but let’s start by addressing the elephant-sized burger in the room. The King Ralph Burger can be found sitting inconspicuously among the other menu items. While the description does include the 32 oz measurement, it adds no extra fuss or attention to the fact that it’s a big old burger. So, if the weight or the price point of $55 doesn’t tip you off that there’s something a little bit different about this burger, you might just miss it.
The King Ralph Burger is a bacon cheer burger with all of the fixings you’d expect (just more, we’d assume), all on a whopping 10” bun. It's a bun fit for a King Ralph Burger. Of course, your burger comes with a basket of fries because every burger needs a side dish. The burger is essentially the size of a pizza, so you can imagine it might be hard to pick up and take a bite. Luckily, the generous kitchen staff cut it into four quarters to make it slightly more manageable.
A confident eater might think this feat is no problem, but we cannot stress enough how few people have made it across the proverbial finish line. If you do some digging, you can uncover videos online of people attempting the challenge and completing it in the rarest of cases. If you are among the most talented eaters in the province, we highly recommend you try this challenge. If you’re more likely to go for a burger you can actually hold in your two hands, you might be more inclined to share this behemoth with a friend or four.
Outside of the King Ralph Burger, you’ll find an endless array of options on the menu at Ralph's Texas Bar & Steak House. For example, they serve breakfast anytime with options like steak, eggs, omelettes, and more. You can also choose from options like perogies, mac & cheese, liver and onions, chicken strips, and the list goes on. There are some lighter choices as well as a range of burgers. Truly, there’s something for everyone at Ralph’s.
Whether you’re planning on eating the biggest meal of your life in the form of a 32-ounce burger or you’re just looking for a regular meal in a welcoming setting, you should probably head to Ralph’s.

Adam of Beard Meets Food fame would swallow that down easy peasy and order dessert to boot.
