Canadian comics Seth Rogen and Martin Short will compete for the Emmy for best lead actor in a comedy series.
Rogen was nominated for his role in “The Studio,” which he created, wrote and directed, while Short is up for his role in “Only Murders in the Building.”
“The Studio” also earned a nod for best comedy series, best directing and best writing for Rogen.
The Apple TV Plus satire stars the B.C. native as the boss of a struggling Hollywood studio, juggling corporate pressures with his dream of making genuinely good movies.
The Hamilton, Ont.-born Short plays frazzled theatre director Oliver Putnam in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” starring opposite Steve Martin and Selena Gomez. This is the fourth time he’s received an Emmy nod for the role.
Meanwhile, Canada’s Graham Yost has earned an Emmy nomination for best drama series as executive producer of “Slow Horses.”
The 77th Emmy Awards will broadcast live from Los Angeles on CTV on Sept. 14.
