Saskatchewan’s excitement around Chappell Roan lands on late-night TV circuit

By Canadian Press on August 18, 2025.

The excitement in Saskatchewan around American pop singer Chappell Roan and her latest song appears to have made its way to the late-night TV circuit.

Roan has created a buzz in Saskatchewan with the release of “The Subway,” the star’s newest single about post-breakup frustration, where she name-drops Saskatchewan.

“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon highlighted the tourism boom in Saskatchewan before joking about songs mentioning the land of the living skies.

He then played spoofs of “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus and “Love Shack” by the B-52s, changing some of their lyrics to mention Saskatchewan.

Roan, who is known for chart-topping songs like “Good Luck, Babe” and “Pink Pony Club,” has said she’s never visited the often-overlooked Prairie province, but promises to do so one day.

The singer known to many as the “Midwest Princess” made Canadian headlines earlier this year when the Edmonton Oilers began playing “Pink Pony Club” after a win during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 18, 2025.
