The Lethbridge Lightning will head into the Christmas break in first place in the Ranchland Hockey League.
The Lightning downed the Fort Macleod Mustangs 4-1 in league action Saturday night at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
With the win, the Lighting improve to 6-2-0-1 and move one point ahead of the Innisfail Eagles (6-0-0) for first place in the league.
On Saturday night, two goals in the second and third periods paced Lethbridge to the win.
Cole Matson, Josh Wilson, Jarrett Metheral and Keegan McDowell scored for the Lightning.
Jamelyn Weasel Head replied for the Mustangs.
Leo Lacourciere had three assists for the Lightning and McDowell added one helper for a two-point night.
Alex Sirard earned the win in goal for Lethbridge.
Aaron De Kok got the start for Fort Macleod.
The Lightning return to action in 2022 Jan. 14 when they take on the Siksika Buffaloes at the Siksika Deerfoot Sportsplex.
The Lightning don’t play at home until Feb. 12 when they host the Buffaloes at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
