The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s volleyball team started the 2022 portion of their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season off on a winning note.
The Kodiaks posted a 3-1 win over the SAIT Trojans Friday night at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium to get the New Year off on the right foot and improve to 5-2 in the process.
After dropping a high-scoring 30-28 first set to the Trojans, the Kodiaks rallied for 25-18, 25-21 and 25-22 set wins to earn the home win in front of a fan-less gymnasium due to COVID-19 protocol.
The men’s game between the Kodiaks and Trojans was postponed and will be made up later.
On Friday, Kodiaks veteran Jamie Brown hammered 24 kills and 14 digs, while teammate Mack Lewicki added 17 kills and 12 digs.
Elyse Doble had 15 digs for the Kodiaks, while Aideena Wickstrom added 13 and Johanna Dixon had 11.
The Kodiaks are back in action next Friday when they head to Caronport, Sask. to face the Briercrest Clippers.
