LCI set to host curling ASAA provincials after strong showing at Zones

Submitted photo LCI curlers had a strong showing at Zones last weekend as they prepare to host the ASAAprovincials next month.

The High School Curling Zones drew into the house last weekend at the Lethbridge Curling Club.
Students from 14 different schools in the South Zone hit the hack for the event.
As they get ready to host the Alberta Schools Athletic Association provincials next month, LCI continued their strong presence on the pebbled ice at the South Zones.
The LCI girls team beat Chinook in the final to take the gold. The LCI girls have now gone seven straight games without allowing a single point against them.
Vulcan County Central defeated Taber W.R. Myers to take the girl’s bronze.
LCI captured gold in mixed doubles with a win over Claresholm Willow Creek. LCI also took the bronze the that event.
The LCI mixed team also struck gold with a victory over Picture Butte. Coaldale Kate Andrews beat Warner for the bronze.
In the boy’s gold medal game, Warner edged Chinook in an intense game, while W.R. Myers beat LCI to win the bronze.
The three LCI teams as well as the Warner boys, Chinook girls and Picture Butte mixed teams now advance to the ASAA provincials, to be hosted by LCI at the Lethbridge Curling Club at the ATB Centre March 3-5.
