The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s basketball team’s winning streak has come to and end,

And it was halted by the same team that handed them their last loss as the Pronghorns fell 86-74 to the Alberta Pandas in Canada West play Friday night at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.

The loss ends the Horns’ 10-game winning streak and puts them at 10-5.

The Pandas grabbed a commanding 31-15 lead after the first quarter, although the Pronghorns outscored Alberta 23-22 in the second half to cut the visitors lead to 53-38 at the half.

The Horns outscored the Pandas by two and one point in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback as the Pandas posted the win to improve to 11-2.

Jessica Haenni led Lethbridge with 15 points, while Amy Mazutinec added 13 and Haily Weaver had 10.

Weaver and Millay Johnson each grabbed five rebounds.

The Pronghorns men’s team lost 78-64 to the Golden Bears Friday night to fall to 6-7 on the season.

The teams are back on the 1st Choice Savings Centre court this afternoon at 5 p.m. for the women’s game at 7 p.m. for the men.
