Site work has started at the future home of a new west Lethbridge public elementary school.
The new K-5 school will be situated in the Garry Station subdivision and construction is slated to start next year with a planned opening date in September 2025.
Melcor Developments is installing new utilities, doing road alignment and widening and is levelling the building location and playing fields. This work is expected to be completed by fall.
Garry Station Elementary School will be located south of Kensington Road West and west of Abitibi Road.
The school was approved by the provincial government in March 2021. It has been the top priority for Lethbridge School Division for the past several years as the north end of the city’s westside continues to grow. This growth has put significant enrolment pressures on Mike Mountain Horse and Coalbanks elementary schools, the latter of which opened in 2017.
