Diners at a local restaurant have witnessed a different look to its serving staff in the form of a Greenco Robot, or more precisely a BellaBot.
El Greco Cuisine has had the cat-faced four-wheeled robot for a few weeks now that loads plates after meals, takes the table number and brings meals to the table where a staff member will then unload the customer’s meal.
“We saw on Facebook one of our friends, he went to Edmonton and they had one of those ones and he was excited,” said Fani Stoupa, El Greco Cuisine manager.
“He took a video – we saw the video – and after we searched the company, we talked with them and we have a robot now.”
Stoupa said the robot is more for assisting with meal service so they don’t have to carry heavy things, and to serve more tables at once.
The robot is already programmed with numbers for where it has to serve.
“They love it,” said Stoupa, on the customer’s thoughts of the robot.
“They’ve taken pictures, they’ve taken selfies. Yeah, I haven’t had any complaints so far.”
Stoupa said, “She helps me more than the kitchen.”
Stoupa thinks the robot is going to be the way of the future.
“I don’t think they’re going to go away,” she said. “I think they’re going to come more and they’re going to have more bigger technology.”
