Raiders blank Hurricanes

It was the Prince Albert Raiders who were victorious on Wednesday night, as they beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-0 at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Raiders’ Carson Latimer opened the scoring in the third period on the powerplay at 2:40. while the Canes’ Chase Pauls was off serving a charging penalty.

Sloan Stanick and Landon Kosior notched the assists on Latimer’s first goal of the campaign.

Prince Albert made the contest 2-0 at 4:31 of the third period as Keaton Sorenson notched his third goal of the season passed Hurricanes goalie Jared Picklyk. Stanick drew the assist.

The Raiders scored a shorthanded empty net goal as Kosior cleared the puck off the glass and all the way down into the net to make the game 3-0 Prince Albert at 17:05 of the third and put the game out of reach.

The Raiders would kill off that late 6-on-4 man advantage for Lethbridge.

It was a 29-save shutout for Raiders goalie Tikhon Chaika.

PA went 1-for-5 and Lethbridge went 0-for-5 on the powerplay in the game.

Shots were 29-20 in favour of Lethbridge.

The Hurricanes’ struggles at the Art Hauser Centre continue as their last win in Prince Albert was in February 2019.

With the loss, the Hurricanes record falls back to .500 on the year at 2-2.

For the Hurricanes, they will now travel to Red Deer for a Friday night game.

Lethbridge will host PA on Saturday night at the Enmax Centre.
