A 25-year-old Lethbridge man accused of driving a stolen truck, striking another vehicle then running away, will face numerous charges when he appears in court next month.
Police say a witness reported a collision at about 6:21 p.m. Tuesday on University Drive, and said the male driver of one of the vehicles was fleeing from the scene of the accident. The witness followed the suspect, and police, as well as the K-9 unit, found the man lying in a field east of Burnco Landscape Centre.
The driver of the second vehicle was trapped in his vehicle and was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 2017 grey Dodge truck involved in the accident had been stolen Tuesday in Lethbridge. Various documents found inside the truck had also been stolen.
Investigators determined the truck was northbound on University Drive when the driver lost control and started to enter the east ditch. The driver overcorrected, crossed the centre line and struck a southbound Ford Edge, pushing it into the ditch.
Joshua Ryan McArthur is charged with dangerous driving, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen identity documents and numerous offences under the Traffic Safety Act.
He was released on an undertaking with numerous conditions and is scheduled to appear in court March 26.
