Lynda Kavanagh, owner of WOW Communications & Training, a brand strategy company that helps businesses develop their brand, has a new book called “Be the Unicorn, it starts with your Brand,” and is inviting the community to celebrate the launch.

The readers of Kavanagh’s first book, “Sales suck… NOW WHAT?,” which focuses on sales techniques to implement a business brand, was reviewed as an easy-to-read and adaptable business guide. In her second book, Kavanagh helps readers work through the complicated world or marketing and building a brand.

“How does a small business with fewer than 25 employees and a minimal marketing budget relate to books using examples of companies with million-dollar budgets? The suggestion in those books is if you just follow Nike’s or Amazon’s business model, your business will succeed, too,” says Kavanagh. “However, the reality is that if you don’t have those large budgets, success will come slowly.”

Throughout her experience of diversifying and developing brands for over 25 years, Kavanagh has noticed throughout the area a number of frustrated businesses who haven’t been seeing the success they were originally anticipating through various campaigns.

“Over the years, I’ve encountered many frustrated small businesses through my business training, coaching and webinars, and I hate hearing how they’ve wasted precious time and money,” says Kavanagh. “The frustration starts when they’re employing sales techniques, but not seeing a rate of return. Many businesses think they have a brand because they have a name and a logo, although those are important, they’re just components of a business brand.”

“Be the Unicorn, it starts with your Brand” is a self-guided workbook that allows readers to adapt their own business functions to the book to find a way to help them build and expand the way their business runs, for a positive outcome.

“This is a workbook and readers will be an active participant in developing their business brand by working through the more than 30 multi-part exercises in the book,” says Kavanagh.

The book launch for “Be the Unicorn, it starts with your Brand” will take place on March 10 at 4:30 p.m. Since the book is about business, Kavanagh wanted to give people the chance to meet other business owners in the community and discuss, so the event will host as a speed networking event. Tickets are $50 each and include a copy of the book and entrance to the speed networking and are limited to the first 45 people. Tickets for the event as well as to purchase a copy of the book, visit wowcommunications.ca. Event location and additional details will follow after the payment has been processed.
