City institutes emergency snow route parking ban on 10 Avenue South

By Jensen, Randy on March 14, 2020.

LETHBRIDGE HERALD

The City of Lethbridge is providing notice of a temporary parking ban along a designed Emergency Snow Route to maintain clear access to Chinook Regional Hospital.

The ban will take effect today at 7 a.m. to facilitate plowing along 10 Avenue South between Scenic Drive South and Mayor Magrath Drive South, according to a release from the City. During the temporary parking ban residents are asked to park in another location for 72 hours so crews can plow the snow to the parking lanes or boulevard.

This is the only Emergency Snow Route activated at this time.

To find out if you live on an Emergency Snow Route, visit http://www.lethbridge.ca/snowroutes. Residents can also look for the snow route sign along their street.

The temporary parking ban is necessary to ensure residents, emergency vehicles, school buses and public transit buses are able to get to the hospital during the extreme winter conditions being experienced.

While this parking ban is in effect, residents who live along this Emergency Snow Route are asked to park their vehicles off street in another location until the ban is lifted so snow can be plowed to the side of the road.
