Lethbridge Police have charged three people after search warrants related to drug trafficking activity were executed at two northside homes.
In late March members of Crime Suppression Team initiated a short-term investigation into suspected drug trafficking at neighbouring homes along the 1300 block of 15 Avenue North. Search warrants were subsequently obtained and simultaneously executed on April 2, 2020 by members of the CST, Downtown Policing Unit, Patrols, K9, Economic Crimes Unit, Violent Crimes Unit and Intel Unit. At the first home police located a loaded 9 mm handgun, 232 grams of cocaine, 561 grams of methamphetamine and nearly $20,000 in cash. At the second home police seized a forged/falsified Canadian passport, multiple identity documents and a stolen car insurance document. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $23,200 and the methamphetamine $56,070.
Liban Mohamed Hassan, 34, of Lethbridge, and Yusuf Abdisamad, 34, of Lethbridge are charged with numerous firearms and drug trafficking related offences. Betty Deanne Hancock, 48, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a forged Canadian passport, possession of identity documents and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
