Two charged with drug trafficking offences

Members of the Lethbridge Police Crime Suppression Team have charged a male and female with drug trafficking offences.

On Wednesday CST members began a short-term investigation into drug trafficking activity associated with a home along the 2100 block of 15 Avenue North, police said in a release. Police observed a vehicle leave the home and conduct a drug transaction. Upon returning to the residence a short time later a male and female were arrested without incident as they exited the vehicle. During a search incidental to arrest, police seized more than 65 grams of methamphetamine, $2,500 cash and a knife. The street value of the methamphetamine is estimated at $6,500.

Steven Kenneth Klein, 34, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, suspended driving and three counts of breach of an undertaking.

Angel Rose Andre, 22, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Klein is in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing and Andre was released on an undertaking to appear in court June 26.
