LETHBRIDGE HERALD
A 10-year-old boy died of his injuries after being involved in a pedestrian motor vehicle collision Monday afternoon in west Lethbridge.
Police officers responded to the collision at the intersection of Whoop-Up Drive and Aquitania Boulevard West at about 3:30 p.m.
Investigation by Lethbridge Police Service Traffic Response Unit revealed the vehicle travelling south on Aquitania Boulevard West was making a right turn into the westbound lanes of Whoop-Up Drive when the vehicle struck two young boys crossing within the crosswalk, according to an LPS release.
The boys were walking east with their father while the vehicle was facing a yield sign. A nine-year-old boy sustained minor injuries and the father was not injured.
However, tragically, the 10-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.
The collision remains under investigation.
