The Lethbridge and Area Auto Dealers Association is donating $15,000 to southern Alberta food banks. The organization voted in favour of the gesture to thank essential workers during the COVID-19 crisis.

“One of the bright lights in all of this has been the amazing response from all front-line workers in the health-care field, and in other essential businesses. It is truly inspiring to see these individuals step up to keep us safe, healthy and to keep our economy going,” said Tim Schipper, LADA president.

According to Schipper, members of the association are aware of the devastating impact the pandemic is having on the local economy and the resulting drastic increase in unemployment.

“As long-standing members of the southern Alberta business community, we stand united as we progress through these difficult times,” said Schipper.

Every year the LADA raises money for charitable causes via the LADA Charity Classic golf tournament and through regular member donations. In their history, the association has donated over $1.5 million to area charity initiatives and educational institutions, according to Schipper.

The LADA >represents 14 franchise dealerships in the Lethbridge area, which remain open for business as an essential service.
