Connolly and Associates has announced that Claudia R. Connolly has been appointed as Queen’s Counsel.

The appointment recognizes Connolly’s longstanding commitment to criminal defence in southern Alberta, as well as her contributions to the community the last 27 years.

Connolly was born and raised in rural Manitoba, and began her post-secondary education at Brandon University. Shortly afterward she moved to Lethbridge, where she finished her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Lethbridge in 1988. She went on to attend law school at the University of Calgary, completing her LLB in 1991.

Connolly was the recipient of multiple Academic Awards throughout her university education, and was able to do so while maintaining employment and raising two young daughters.

The Queen’s Counsel designation is awarded by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on recommendation from the Minister of Justice. It is awarded to lawyers in recognition of their ability, reputation and commitment to the legal profession and the community.
