LETHBRIDGE HERALD
The City of Lethbridge is preparing to open the Yates Theatre Ticket Centre as an in-person location to accept City payments from the public. Starting today, residents can visit the Yates from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday to pay their taxes and any other City bills.
The location is being opened while work is done at city hall to ensure proper safety protocols are in place. Once city hall does reopen, the Yates will help add capacity to ensure payments can be accepted safely during peak times, the City said in a news release.
Because the ticket centre already has plexi-glass barriers in place between the cashiers and public, a quick transformation has been made, fitting the space to meet the current public health guidelines. The Yates Theatre Ticket Centre is located adjacent to City Hall, at 1002 4 Ave. S.
Over the remainder of this week, the IT systems are being installed to take all City payments. The site will also have hand washing stations and line management to ensure proper physical distancing. Security and safety/clean staff are also being hired to help at this location.
Phase 2 of the plan is to reopen the first floor of city hall to the public. The materials needed to ensure COVID-19 protocols can be followed have been ordered but are in high demand. Pending any delays in material delivery, the first floor of city hall it is planned to reopen June 22.
There are a wide range of options available to residents to access online services for their payment options. These are still encouraged over in-person visits. More information can be found at: https://www.lethbridge.ca/Service/Pages/Accounts-Payable-and-Receivable.aspx.
Residents are reminded of the important steps to take should they decide to visit in-person, to make City payments:
– Consider using debit rather than cash;
– Stay at least two metres away from people outside of your household;
– If possible, wear a mask;
– Stay home if you are feeling unwell; and
– Hand sanitize before and after.
The Yates Ticket Centre will be staffed by City Hall cashiers, not Ticket Centre staff. Business related to the Ticket Centre is still available by phone (403-329-7328) or email ticketinfo@lethbridge.ca Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
