The Lethbridge Public Library is reopening one chapter at a time.
The library has announced Thursday as the Chapter 1 launch of their reopening plan.
Placing the health and safety of its staff, customers and community at the forefront, the library will be initially reopening with limited services and new hours with the ultimate goal to continue to meet community needs and provide as much service as possible, but doing so safely, it said in a news release.
However, with the inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present, the restrictions put in place and services provided may change based on the evolving situation and will be reviewed on a regular basis, remaining consistent with the direction and guidance of public health authorities, the Government of Alberta and the City of Lethbridge.
The hours of operations at the main and Crossings branches are Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both locations will be closed Sunday.
For the health and safety of staff and customers, building access at the main branch will be limited to the children’s services desk and computer services area, and the customer services desk and some computer stations at the Crossings branch.
At this time there will be no access to browse collections and building access will be limited to one adult per family. Customers are encouraged to use the Curbside Pickup service when visiting in groups. Streaming and online programming will continue.
Donations of used books/materials will not be accepted. Exam invigilation will be available by appointment by calling (403) 320-4954.
The Bookmobile will be available for curbside pickup only. The Bookmobile will have variable hours, visit http://www.lethlib.ca to check.
Library memberships expiring between July 2 to July 16 will be extended until July 16 and can be renewed for one year by calling (403) 380-7330 for the main branch and (403) 320-4037 for the Crossings Branch), or visiting a branch.
Library materials checked out prior to the closure will be due back July 16. Library materials checked out via Curbside Pickup are due back on the due date assigned at the time of pick up.
The library’s complete reopening plan is available at http://www.lethlib.ca.
