As Alberta moves forward with its relaunch strategy, Alberta Health Services will be reinstating parking fees as part of its return to normal business, including Chinook Regional Hospital.
Parking fees will be reinstated for employees on Aug. 31 and for the public on Sept. 1. Parking fees help AHS control the flow of traffic and ensure appropriate parking spaces are available for staff and visitors, keeping facilities accessible as traffic again increases.
As part of routine Infection Prevention and Control measures, AHS Parking Services has already enhanced cleaning, and will continue to regularly clean all parking payment machines. Signs encouraging social distancing will be in place in areas where this additional guidance will help further reduce the spread of COVID-19.
AHS also encourages the use of the AHS parking app, which can be downloaded for free to any iPhone or Android device. Parking rates charged for public lots will not change as part of this reinstatement. Public parking fees will be as they were prior to the pause. Coins and cash will still be accepted at AHS parking meters and parking offices.
Staff and public are reminded to continue to park in designated parking areas. This helps ensure more efficient traffic flow and appropriate access to AHS facilities.
Parking impacts accessibility of care for patients. Patient and public parking locations are intended to enhance accessibility.
As always, everyone is asked to continue to be respectful of the parking spaces allocated to visitors, as well as spaces reserved for emergency personnel, physicians, barrier-free stalls, pick-up and drop-off zones, and fire lanes.
