Lethbridge police have charged a city man after a taxi driver reported he was robbed at knifepoint Tuesday.
Police say the driver had dropped off three passengers at a residence in the 3500-block of 20 Avenue South and the fare was paid with a bank card. Upon exiting the taxi, one of the passengers was alleged to have put a knife to the driver’s throat and demanded he hand over all his money. The driver replied he had none and the subject walked away without further incident.
Police were contacted and established a cordon around the address the passengers had been dropped off at. All three exited without incident.
Joe Zwart, 35, has been charged with robbery and was released to appear in court Nov. 19.
